Elisabeth Wessel’s Exhibition “Fantasmes d’Orient” at the Grand Hôtel du Cap Ferrat

The painting exhibition “Fantasmes d’Orient” of the Artist Elizabeth Wessel is opened to public until the 20th of August 2017 at the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel,  in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat

The painting exhibition “Fantasmes d’Orient“, presented as a preview to the guests of the Baronne Béatrice Ball , is now open to the Public in the sumptuous setting of the Grand-Hôtel of Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel, until the 20th of August 2017. The Artist and Fashion Designer Elizabeth Wessel evokes in ten paintings the historical characters, artists and worldly figures of the early twentieth century who appropriated orientalism and japanism to nourish their artistic creation or make it their own way of life.
The artist depends brilliantly people and times when creative madness had no limits.

Sarah Bernhardt was one of the most important French actresses from the XIXth to the beginning of the XXth century. Nicknamed the “Golden Voice” by Victor Hugo, she was for many “The Divine”. The great tragedian left the Comédie Française in 1880 to start her own company with which she organized world tours.

Reigning over the State of Patiala between 1900 and 1938, Bhupindar Singh, Maharajah of Patiala, fully incarnated the bilateral fascination between Orient and Occident at the beginning of the XXth century.
