On the celebration of its fortieth anniversary, the Compagnie Monégasque de Banque is launching “Women and Finance; the Academy”. The aim of this initiative is to support our clients in their efforts to improve on their financial skills; the Bank is entirely persuaded that ladies can bring to decision making in many areas greater expertise than men particularly in the financial and asset management field.

Women and Finance; the Academy

The Compagnie Monégasque de Banque celebrates its fortieth anniversary in 2016. For the occasion, the Bank is planning a number of projects including the sponsorship of educational activities. In particular we are launching a pilot seminar entitled “Women and Finance; the Academy” on April 26th 2016. This will be the first of these certified training sessions. The understanding of financial concepts is uneven within populations, as well as between the male and female genders.

With this initiative the Bank wishes to concentrate its efforts on the ladies among our clients. From time to time one is faced with situations that require an understanding of financial and economic concepts. While financial matters are becoming increasingly prominent in the media we believe that a greater understanding of some of the concepts and their practical impact can only be useful in everyday life. To this end we have created the Academy. Our aim is to encourage a questioning attitude about the management of wealth among our female clients and in the process to help establish confidence where it is absent. We believe that our approach will help to de-mystify an investment and financial world that has become more obtuse and removed from everyday matters. We will be more than happy if this provokes questions and challenges for our staff in explaining their subjects.

The seminars entitled “Women and Finance; the Academy” will be a success, we believe, when our clients feel more comfortable in dealing with decisions regarding their wealth. The syllabus includes, among other matters, financial vocabulary, financial markets and their dynamics, investment solutions, property and loans. These subjects are discussed straightforwardly in the context of everyday life. CMB has called upon its own specialist staff to lead the seminars; many are graduates of major academic institutions with extensive experience in the wealth management and banking sectors. As you will see, above, many of the participants are ladies.

This first series of lectures will be held at the Hotel Meridien Beach Plaza in Monaco each month between April 2016 and March 2017. All fees are the responsibility of the Compagnie Monégasque de Banque and the session material is also provided by the Bank to the twenty selected participants.

Even before the official announcement of the establishment of the “Women and Finance; the Academy”, the number of pre-registered candidates already exceeded capacity and therefore we intend to maintain this initiative in the years to come.
